The mission of The Center for Low Back Pain, LLC is to contain, minimize and eradicate the suffering that is caused by lower back pain. An important part of the mission is to set the standard for determining who may benefit from back surgery and who can avoid it. The Rockville, Maryland Center serves Washington D.C. and the surrounding suburbs. The Center serves a population ranging from the late twenties to the late sixties. The Center focuses on lower back pain because of the expertise that is required to successfully address this challenging area of care. While ranked number eight of the top twenty costliest diseases, unlike many on that list, chronic low back pain will not shorten one's life span but can cause great misery as well as loss in economic and personal well being. The Center treats conditions that directly cause significant and chronic lower back pain which include: spinal stenosis, herniated discs, bulging discs, spondylolisthesis, sciatica, pelvic pain, sacral and synovial cysts, scoliosis, arthritis, repetitive motion trauma, occupational trauma, vehicular trauma, sport related injuries and failed back surgery. A significant group of people we help have not responded to epidural injection therapy, pharmaceutical agents or other forms of therapy. Many have been told they should have or are considering surgery as a treatment.
The Center makes use of the best of traditional and progressive approaches to care that have been brought together to be collectively known as Integrated Lumbar Management (ILM). This approach as developed by Dr. David Fishkin reflects his personal suffering with lower back pain, his professional training and seventeen years as a practicing chiropractor. The ILM approach is focused in its application of technology and techniques that are unique in this area of care. The goals are elimination of pain, improvement in function and increased independence from all care providers. The Center has at the core of its philosophy, that results are what count not ideology and that while we focus locally on the lower back we do not forget its global effect on the body.

Dr. Fishkin, a native New Yorker, received his bachelor's degree from SUNY Stonybrook, his Doctor of Chiropractic from
the New York Chiropractic College in 1988 and in 2008 received his masters in Public Health at the George Washington
University School of Public Health and Health Services. He has been serving his patients for almost twenty years as a Maryland chiropractor.
Dr. Fishkin feels that helping an individual heal requires understanding their problem and, that understanding means to
listen, inquire and probe. This process takes time. To facilitate healing requires knowledge, creativity, physical and
mental energy. Dr. Fishkin spends the time to understand so that you won't waste yours.
Having dealt with his own lower back pain from the tender age of thirteen, Dr. Fishkin is uniquely qualified to serve as
the force behind The Center For Low Back Pain, LLC. Few doctors can say that they have suffered as their patients have.
This experience gives Dr. Fishkin a unique perspective, and aids him in effectively helping his patients. He knows that
if you have not had back pain, it is very difficult to truly appreciate the misery it can cause.
Dr. Fishkin often says that he is the first test for any new idea or approach that will be offered to his patients. This
level of intimacy with the same problem area that also affects his patients is a great advantage in helping others
conquer their pain. Dr. Fishkin works routinely and closely with other members of the health care community because he
knows that no one person or therapy will always accomplish this goal. By seeking the help of other health care
providers, Dr. Fishkin can effectively and humanely address his patients' problems.
Dr. Fishkin has observed that people often suffer with either too little help, or too aggressive of an approach. Dr.
Fishkin employs many approaches, paying close attention to both the balancing and timing of these approaches to speed
recovery. The unique application of traditional and newer techniques of spinal care is an example of Dr. Fishkin's
commitment to improving the lives of low back pain sufferers. Now even those whom he was unable to help in the past have
returned to find relief from their pain. Clients drive from Baltimore and all over Maryland and DC to the Rockville chiroprator office. He can now help those people with even the most challenging low back pain turn
their lives from one of fear and misery to a life of freedom and optimism.
Dr. Fishkin is also an acknowledged expert in the area of vehicular trauma, its effects on the body and the treatment
for those effects.
